Boat Docks
While many people would like nothing better than getting out on the open water to do some fishing, there are actually some benefits that can be associated with fishing right from the boat docks.
Boat docks are a particularly attractive area for fishing if you are aiming to catch bass. The reason for this is very simple. Boat docks, particularly large boat docks, provide two critical elements that bass look for. Those elements are shade and foliage. If you are a fan of bass fishing, you know that those are two important factors that you must seek out when you bass fishing.
Keep in mind that not all boat docks are suitable for bass fishing. In fact, you may find that some boat docks do not produce any good fishing at all. The reasons for this could be numerous. In many cases, you may find that the bass do not prefer the dock if there is a lot of vegetation nearby or if there are a lot of fallen trees in the area.
You will generally find that the most productive boat docks for bass fishing are those large docks that are on main lakes. The reason that such boat docks tend to be popular with bass fish is that the docks have more wind exposure. Often, the best time of the day for bass fishing near the boat docks is when the sun is at its highest, the water is warm and the fish are looking for a cool shade. On days like this you may very well find that you have struck a good place for fishing. Of course, that does not mean that you may not experience some good results on days that are overcast and cloudy, so you certainly may want to give it a try on different days, just to see what you can come up with.
Keep in mind when fishing on the docks that you should not always expect an immediate response. In order to get good results from fishing on the docks you will need to have some patience. If you are not feeling as though you are in a particularly patient mood, it might be a good idea to forego fishing on the docks and instead head out onto the boat, where you will have the advantage of being able to move around to a better fishing locale if the one you try first proves to be unproductive.
